Since 1985, Buzgon Davis has proudly served as solicitor for public school districts and vocational technical schools. The work as solicitor covers a broad spectrum of school law, with such matters as: dismissal, demotion or disciplinary actions against faculty and staff; student disciplinary matters; litigation against contractors, vendors, investment managers, auditors, financing institutions and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; First Amendment questions; hiring procedures; the Veterans’ Preference Act; sabbatical leave and military leaves of absence; the Family Medical Leave Act; defense of discrimination claims and labor law grievances and arbitration; union contract negotiations; mandatory reporting of child abuse; tax matters; district residency disputes; establishing educational foundations and scholarship programs; bidding requirements under state and federal law; construction projects, contracts and funding; assessment appeals; and numerous Pennsylvania School Code requirements.

Buzgon Davis has also represented numerous school principals and other administrators through its appointment as Regional Counsel for the 3,800 members of the Pennsylvania Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals. In the realm of higher education, lawyers from the firm have served as Regional Counsel for the American Association of University Professors handling tenure disputes, promotion and termination actions, etc on behalf of university professors. On behalf of public school students and their parents, Buzgon Davis has taken a leading role in enforcing the rights of students in disciplinary and expulsion hearings, free speech and religious freedom issues, as well as prosecuting racial, sexual, disability and national origin discrimination claims.
